Welcome to our website!
The Que’s Your Daddy BBQ Team was established in 2007 by chief cook, Doc Richardson.
Doc Richardson began to develop his passion for BBQ when he was young. He grew up watching his dad cookin’ BBQ down in the hills of Tennessee. The passion continued to grow over the next 20+ years,in which he has catered many events, including corporate events, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and general parties such as Cinco de Mayo and Superbowl. Although he had an extensive cooking background, he had never competed. Due to his passion for BBQ, Doc began to reach out to others on the BBQ forums and began building some BBQ relationships. Who could have imagined there were so many people that shared the same passion for great BBQ?
One person that Doc met on a forum is Aaron Moore, fellow cook and competitor on the Big O’ Dang O’ BBQ team. When Aaron found out that Doc had not competed in any events, he coaxed Doc into entering the Staunton Rib Fest and Que’s Your Daddy BBQ team was born. With much chagrin, Doc agreed, packed his cooker and headed to Staunton in July of 2007. That was when the worst thing possible happened…Doc took first place and won the competition his first time out! After the shock wore off, it was obvious that BBQ had crossed a new threshold, and the Richardson household would never be the same.
Originally, the team consisted of the entire family, but in the last few years has evolved to include only Doc and his wife, Susan. They each have their role and cook all contests together. So, that’s the story of how Que’s Your Daddy BBQ team came into existence. All because of the coaxing of a well-intentioned friend and a first place trophy, a passion for BBQ was fueled.
By the way… we are still on speaking terms with Aaron. If it weren’t for him, we would have never had the opportunity to experience the sweetness of a call or the overwhelming camaraderie of the BBQ community. Thanks, Aaron…we owe you one!
